One of the most exciting moments for the mother-to-be is her baby shower! Here is a sample of the top ten baby shower games:

1) Change the Baby (doll) – Blindfold the mother-to-be and place a baby doll in her lap. The object is to take off all of the baby’s clothes and change the diaper. If you have a very playful mom-to-be as soon as the diaper is opened be sure to squirt a bit of water in her face. A variation is to blindfold everyone but the mother-to-be and make teams of no more than five. Each team takes turns changing the baby and the first team done wins.

2) What does a baby need? – Hand out notepads to all of the guests and have them list all of the things that a baby needs. Examples are: blanket, diaper, bottle, car seat, and so on. Set a time limit of 2-5 minutes and the one with the most correct answers wins.

3) How big is the tummy? – Be sure that your mother-to-be is comfortable with guests coming up to her before attempting this one. Pass around a ball of twine or string and have each guest cut a piece with a pair of scissors. The winner is the one who is closest to the actual belly size!

4) Don’t say it! – Before any other activities occur hand out a string ‘necklace’ to each guest and place clothes pins on it. Each time the word “baby” is said that guest loses her clothespin to the guest who told on her! A variation is to give the mother-to-be all of the clothespins and any time she mentions the word “baby” the pins are passed the guest that catches her! The guest with the most pins on her necklace wins.

5) Baby trivia- This game requires a bit of research. You want to find the most obscure questions that you can think of relating to baby and baby’s needs. Think along the lines of, “How many times does the average newborn wake up at night?”; “How many diapers will the baby go through in a week?”, “What is the average length of all babies born in this country?” There could be several winners, funniest answer, most correct answers and so on.

6) What object is this? – Place a bunch of baby items: rattle, pacifier, washcloth, socks, and so on as long as each is small enough to fit in a baby bag, and pass it around the room. Have each guest close his or her eyes and try to guess each object. The participant with the most correct item wins!

7) “You’ve got the cutest little baby face” – Hand out a notepad to each guest and set a timer for three-five minutes depending on size of your party and ask for song titles with the word “baby” in the title. This would be great paired with, “Don’t say it!” Clothespins will change hands constantly. The guest with the most titles wins.

What’s for lunch? – Line up a total of ten jars of baby food with the labels covered and have each guest take a guess at what food it is. Keep it simple on these as combinations are hard to tell through just the glass. Veggies and fruits would be a great start. If there is a tie you can blindfold the two and have her guess the flavor by tasting it! Lots of fun for all.

9) Matchmaker! – All you need is a few packs of new, brightly colored baby socks. Have two guests face off in 30 second intervals to see who can match the most. The best part is that the mother-to-be has a bunch of new socks for the baby.

10) Pacifier Bobbing – This game also gives the mother-to-be some much needed items after it is over. Take a baby bath and fill it with water. Add a dozen or so pacifiers. Each guest must take turns “bobbing” for as many pacifiers as possible. The guest with the most wins!

These are just a few to get you started with ideas. Any game can be adjusted for a baby shower!

The wedding day is approaching for the bride-to-be and it’s time to plan for the bridal shower. The matron of honor or one of the bridesmaids is usually in charge of the bridal shower but anyone can offer bridal shower ideas to make it a spectacular event.

Bridal Shower Location and Time

The bridal shower usually takes place at the bride’s home, or at a family member’s or friend’s home. Plan it 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. It’s usually on Sunday afternoons and lasts 3 or 4 hours. If it goes past this time into the night, you may be interested in reading some hen party ideas.

Invitations

Only invite the bride’s closest family and friends. Unless the bride grew up with the groom and his friends, it’s not customary to invite the groom’s side. You have many options when it comes to invitations. A bridal shower isn’t a huge event so you don’t need to go all out on custom traditional invitations. Many people are using Facebook invites nowadays. You can also send email invitations by simply sending a short message or using websites that allow you to decorate evites.Th
Send printable invitations by mail if you want more traditional type of invites. There are many templates online to choose from and your printer software most likely came with some options to print out different types of cards.

Bridal Shower Themes

There are many different bridal shower themes to choose from to excite the bride on this very special event in her life. One of the most popular themes is a cocktail party because there is always fun where there are drinks. Set up a day at the spa for a bridal shower theme with massages, manicures, and pedicures. Visit our themes section for more ideas

Bridal Shower Games

Bridal shower games are always a big hit so you should allow plenty of time for them. You can play the classic toilet paper wedding dress game. You can play the naughty bingo game and have a good laugh when the bride tries to act out the different words on the bingo card.

When you think of decorating for a party you immediately think of streamers and balloons but there are many things to remember when setting up for an event. The following are ideas for decorating your party.

Color theme

One of the most important things to keep in mind when choosing your decorations. You want to pick like colors if you are going for a gradient such as dark blues to light blues and white or keep it simple with two colors such as black and white, or gold and silver. You can keep all of your decorations in the same color family or pick contrasting colors for a bold statement.

Balloons

There are many different ways to incorporate balloons into the decorations. You can bundle them and place them in various locations around the room or anchor them to the ends of the food tables or shape them into a design such as flowers or hearts at the entrance for your guests to walk through. There are literally hundreds of colors that you can choose from if you are going with a solid design or you can choose a helium option that usually come with words or designs already on them.

Mood Lighting

If you are in a private venue find out if the lights can be dimmed say while dancing or raised when guests are eating. Consider using mood lighting or brining in additional lights to add to the atmosphere. Here is a list of moodlights

Tiny White Fairy Lights be be used for almost anything, they can be used to cover a ceiling, backdrop behind a head table, or even entire walls

Uplighting: This can really create the wow factor for a room.

Par Cans: Used a light up pillers or Plants, look awesome at night

Moving Heads

Drapping

If the ceiling or wall colors clash with your theme consider draping it with a fabric that does match. You could also use temporary decals or custom decals if the ceiling is less than attractive.

Table Decorations & Centerpieces

The table is going to be where the guests are first drawn to whether they are looking for their seats or sitting for a meal. Be sure to consider the length, style, and color. You may also consider layering several to be visually appealing to the eye. Centerpieces and candles should also draw attention and should follow in the color theme that you choose. Napkin rings, placemats, and name settings are also important to have on the table.

Flooring / Red Carpet

Many times the floor is overlooked. If you rent a venue that does not have the type of flooring you want or is unattractive consider hiring someone to put down carpet or a parque wooden floor.

Customized Banners/Signs

Create a sign about the event or purchase one. For example, “Happy 50th Anniversary”, “Happy 30th Birthday!” Merry Christmas! You could also create a custom banner that is hung around the room or hang poster boards for guests to pen messages on or leave words of advice, depending on the type of party.

Decorating Chairs

Covers can make a huge difference on overall design and feel of your event. Black and white chair covers are very popular but you could choose a color that tie in to your theme.

Flowers & Planters

These are just a few great party decorating ideas! Be sure to ask if the venue you are renting offers to decorate the space for you or if all of the decorating is up to you. For ideas on how to plan an event click here.

Fireplaces and Flames

Custom Gobo
